We began the project envisioning an oasis getaway for the family—somewhere they could truly switch off, unwind, and enjoy meaningful time together, away from the pace of everyday life.
Our client presented us with a generous basement space within their existing home, formerly a basement swimming pool, and saw the potential to reimagine it as a refined yet highly functional environment for relaxation and entertainment. The brief called for the seamless integration of a home cinema alongside an open, light-filled gym—two distinct uses that required careful spatial planning.
In response, we introduced level changes to articulate the different zones, allowing each area to feel both connected and independent. This approach creates a natural flow throughout the space while offering moments of privacy and retreat. The design is anchored by a restrained, tactile material palette with a slightly raw, organic quality—an intentional nod to the basement’s connection to the earth. This grounding aesthetic enhances the overall atmosphere, evoking a sense of calm, warmth, and understated luxury.
As part of the design scheme, we designed a bespoke chandelier, conceived to respond subtly to its environment—gently shifting with the movement of air and casting a soft, natural play of light across the ceiling. Illumination is delivered from below through delicate metal spheres, allowing the glass elements above to come alive with depth and texture.
Every detail was considered beyond function, with even the ceiling plates sculpted in organic forms that reinforce the fluidity of the design, while the interplay of light and shadow is achieved through the rippled glass alone, producing an ever-changing pattern that feels both effortless and atmospheric.
The result is a suspended composition of finely crafted glass and metal—an elegant focal point designed to evoke warmth and intimacy, perfect for creating a cosy late-night glow at the center of heart to heart conversation.
